Category: accessible Devices
Hi, users of the BPP.
So, the website says this device takes SD cards up to 32GB, and I'm using one, but the BP never retains my place when I stop listening, and start again. (Specifically mp3 files; I haven't tested Daisy books on this card). Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Would just getting a lower capacity SD card help, and if so, what size?
I was going to get a 16GB, but thought I'd ask before buying.
I don't know the device you're referring to.
However, I doubt keeping place applies to mp3 and other music files. Daisy comes with a lot of metacontent -- which indicates to the player where you are in the file, and the file structure e.g. chapter, section, etc. Not to say software couldn't keep place on an mp3, but it would be by position only. If I shut down Apple Music, for instance, then go open that song again, it starts from the top. Or if I switch form one song to another, then switch back again, it starts from the beginning.
I don't think it's your card, more the nature of mp3 players.
Again, there's lots of meta information in Daisy that informs the software about the structure of the book, and that would certainly make placeholding more intelligent.
I'm talking about the Book Port Plus, as it says in the title. And it's made to play mp3 files in addition to Daisy files. I've had this device for several years, and this has recently just started happening. I switched the card back to the 2gb one it came with, and it's still having this problem!
There used to be a support list, maybe I need to find out if it still exists.
Is the software up-to-date? I've heard of this thing, but haven't seen one in forever.
